The actions of former Governor, Sarah Palin, border on the absurd. She either runs away or shakes her fist and threatens anyone who wants facts about her behavior.
If you believe that Sarah Palin is going to live the quiet life of a private citizen ….you’re delusional! The resignation of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is nothing more than a media ploy. Palin thrives on the conflict, verbal slings and weird whining that she and her minions put forth in the press.
As an example we can take a closer look at the threatening letter issued by her Alaska-based attorney, Thomas Van Flein, to sue mainstream news organizations if they publish “defamatory” stories relating to whether Palin is under federal investigation. In his letter, Van Flein writes, “This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Time and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law.”
So ya see, Palin isn’t willing to resign and “go quietly in the night” as a private citizen. She wants to stir up legal proceedings, harass people practicing “free speech”, and continue to fill her coffers by whining that “she’s being treated unfairly”.
In a fantastic blog by Shannyn Moore, an Alaskan citizen (Shannyn Moore: Just a Girl from Homer, http://shannynmoore.wordpress.com/) we learn of the divisive and punitive antics of the Palin’s administration to shield her from open record’s inquiries. Moore outlines the disgusting and disturbing actions of Palin’s administration to keep fellow blogger, Linda Kellen Biegel from obtaining emails between Palin and radio bigot, Eddie Burke. Palin’s lackeys have put up road blocks that caused Linda to raise over $5,000 to pay for transcripts of those emails. I suppose Palin believed upping the ante for her correspondence would stall Biegel. However, it didn’t. Biegel supporters donated the money so citizens can actually have some transparency in the Alaskan statehouse. Find Linda’s blog at : http://www.divasblueoasis.com/
So, as I see it, the legacy of Sarah Palin’s gubernatorial stint is two fold:
- She turns tail and resigns as Governor of Alaska just when her popularity is in decline and the Alaskan Legislature gives opposition to her “plans” for the future of the state.
- She threatens public citizens who question her ethics, demand open records, or states opinions.
With that legacy, we can all pray to God that Sarah Palin is defeated in any attempt to hold a national office. Because all this legacy leaves is the reality that Sarah Palin is only out for one thing….popularity and media attention for Sarah Palin.
